About Cheryl

Cheryl Arko is a science fiction author and senior data scientist, as well as a seasoned dog trainer and dog obedience competitor. TOUCH OF THE ELEGRIAN, her debut novel and a Killer Nashville Claymore Award Finalist for best Science Fiction/Fantasy, explores the legacy of biases and prejudices mankind takes with it to the stars. The clash of two cultures is seen through the eyes of the alien Erys, who serves as a bridge between human and alien when both are locked into mutual distrust and simmering aggression.

Dog Trainer

Cheryl is also known for participation in American Kennel Club sports. She has bred, trained, and shown Airedale Terriers under the “Pax” prefix since 1977 and has a long history in Airedaling. Her current four-footed partner, Dutch, aka CH Pax Paladin CD BN RN, was the #1 Airedale in the US for 2021 in Novice Obedience competition. Cheryl has been a guest columnist in the American Kennel Club Gazette.

Senior Data Scientist

Graduating summa cum laude with a triple major in Linguistics, Mathematics and German, and awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship, Cheryl has been an IT geek since 1983 and has many years of experience in medical data analysis. Cheryl has co-authored three peer-reviewed papers published in medical journals.
